100% Design

100% Design is the largest annual design interiors trade event in the UK. 

It is the first time I will visit it and I am looking forward to.

Inspired by Milk

Milk remembers childhood and is the key ingredient of delicacies. 

This is the philosophy at Bianco Latte, a rare jewel that I discovered in my last visit to Milan. 

Conceived as the kitchen of a large house, Bianco Latte is away from the Duomo and the big touristic crowd and offers delicious homemade ice cream, pastries and other many other milk products.

The interior design is also inspired by the candid product: walls, furniture and shelves are white. 
There is also a store with amazing accessories. 

A place to enjoy and celebrate Italianitá...

Do you need a sideboard and have a lot of books?

Zurich's old town

Walking through Zurich's old town, I discovered this shop.

Beside the Limmat river, the venue is stunning. 

However, the most amazing thing about this store are their articles and principles.

Not only the design of their products is important but also social and environmental sustainability and quality. 

The products are manufactured in social workshops and in small Swiss design studios.

The Amalfi Coast

Before going on vacation I would like to  show you a place to dream about.  There are good reasons to claim that the Amalfi Coast is an unforgettable spot in the world. For example, the breathtaking views:

Last but not least: Naples and Pompeii are nearby. Naples is a vibrant urban setting and Pompeii's ruins are the most impressive proof of the power of  nature. 

Question for the fashionistas: did you know that Salvatore Ferragamo studied shoemaking in Naples?

The american writer Gore Vidal considered the Villa Cimbrone Gardens  one of the most beautiful places on earth. In the same village, Greta Garbo enjoyed her love affair with the conductor Arturo Toscanini. 

With all its beauty, no wonder that the region is an inspiration to artists. And lovers. 

Marilyn at the Salvatore

When Marilyn sang “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to JFK in 1962,  she was wearing shoes designed by Salvatore Ferragamo. 

The iconic status  had 30 other identically shaped pairs. She wore them in movies, parties and everywhere else she went. 

Now the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum pays homage to Marilyn Monroe with a major exhibition dedicated to her. 

The exhibition connects Marilyn's femininity to fine art. 

Pictures of the her are exposed next to famous art works, as for example, her image with tendrils of hair blowing on a breezy beach beside Botticelli’s famous “The Birth of Venus” from 1484.

You might think it is an audacity to compare the actress to such paintings but after seeing the blond muse with her curvy and half naked-body beside an 18th-century chalk drawing of a sensual nude, I have the feeling, it is not an overstatement.  

It treats Marilyn as an eternal beauty, differently from other exhibitions, where she used to appear merely as a movie star.

Flights of Fancy

The Tatton Park is one of my favourite places in Cheshire. The landscaped gardens are stunning and walking through the deer park is breathtaking.

In the third edition of the Tatton Park Biennial (May12-Sep30), the theme chosen is flight. Twenty artists created large-scale outdoor installations. The one in the picture is Olivier Grossetete's magical bridge, which is held aloft by huge helium balloons. 

My imagination takes off when I look at this work. 

The Gipsy inside of me

The gipsy inside of me always turns up when I go abroad: 

I want to taste new flavors and discuss different ideas. 

I want to be inspired and find out what people think about life and how they are doing. 

What is life? Could anybody answer me?
